Frequently Asked Questions

Will EZ-Scan® work with my current imaging software?

EZ-Scan® can create a flat ASCII file that can be imported into most imaging packages.  PST also offers several export interfaces compatible with more popular image software packages.

Which file format should I use to save images in EZ-Scan®?

EZ-Scan® supports six different file formats for storage- JPEG, JPEG-Glued, JPEG-Multi, TIFF, TIFF-Glued, and TIFF-Multi. While your overall intentions for image usage will make the final decision, most users will want to choose TIFF-Multi. TIFF-Multi produces one file for each item scanned and will result in relatively small file sizes.

Which image resolution should I use to save images in EZ-Scan®?

EZ-Scan® supports any resolution supported by your scanner. While your processing requirements will make the final decision, most users will want to choose 200DPI. Lower resolutions typically help to achieve faster scanning speeds, but higher resolutions produce more detailed images. EZ-Scan® requires 200DPI or 300DPI for most optical character recognition (OCR) plug-ins to attain the best reads.
